Video-Based Training for a National Logistics Operation
Symons Clark Logistics (SCL) operates a complex supply chain business where workplace safety isn’t just a compliance requirement — it’s a daily operational reality. When SCL needed to overhaul their induction and ongoing safety training programs, they partnered with Motion By Design to develop video-based training content deployed through their learning management system.
The Problem with Traditional Safety Training
SCL’s existing training relied on in-person inductions and written materials. Consistency varied depending on who delivered the training. New starters at different sites received different levels of detail. Refresher training was difficult to schedule across shifts. And tracking completion was largely manual. Video solved every one of these problems.
What We Produced
Working with SCL’s Learning and Development and HSE teams, we produced company induction videos covering culture, values, and expectations, site-specific safety inductions, equipment handling demonstrations, emergency response procedures, and anti-bullying and workplace behaviour (ABF) training. Each video was designed for deployment through SCL’s Absorb LMS platform.
Blending Corporate Feel with Practical Content
Safety training videos that feel overly corporate get dismissed by experienced workers. Videos that feel amateur undermine the importance of the message. We hit the middle ground — visually professional, clearly produced by people who take safety seriously, but with practical, real-world content that workers recognise as relevant.
The Results
SCL now has a consistent, scalable training system that ensures every employee receives the same high-quality induction and safety training. Training completion rates are trackable through the LMS, and content can be updated modularly as procedures change.
