Product videos are no longer a nice-to-have for e-commerce brands. They are one of the most effective tools for driving conversions, reducing returns, and building customer confidence online.
Show the product in use, not just on display. Static product shots on a white background have their place, but they do not sell. The videos that convert are the ones that show the product being used in a real context.
Keep it short and focused. For product pages, aim for 30-90 seconds. That is enough time to show the product from multiple angles, demonstrate key features, and communicate the core benefit.
Lead with the benefit, not the feature. Instead of starting with specifications, start with the outcome the customer wants.
Optimise for mobile first. Over 70% of e-commerce traffic comes from mobile devices. Your product videos need to work on small screens.
Animation works too. Animated product videos – particularly 3D product renders and motion graphics – are especially effective for tech products, software, and products that are difficult to film.
If you are selling products online and not using video, you are competing with one hand behind your back.
